The IL program assists youth who were in placement one day past their 16th birthday in learning skills and locating resources that will be useful to them in their transition to adulthood. Services performed by a caseworker are designed to help youth make the transition to self-sufficiency by providing services such as assistance in obtaining a high school diploma, preparation for post-secondary training and education, career exploration, vocational training, job placement and retention, training in daily living skills, training in budgeting and financial management, substance abuse prevention, and preventative health services. In addition, the caseworker conducts IL needs assessments, maintains case records and files, acts as the IL Service Coordinator for the agency, performs credit checks for all youth in placement 14yrs and up, and facilitates transition plan meetings.
